22 Film Finalists Unveiled in First International Assembly on Gender

True to its mission of championing equal rights and giving platform to independent and professional filmmakers not only in the Philippines but in the entire world, JCI Batangas Balisong in partnership with University of the Philippines- Manila Center for Gender and Women Studies, SexGen - OTOS and the The Film Dream proudly present the 1st GLOBAL ASSEMBLY ON EVERYDAY LIFE, GENDER AND SEXUALITY FILM COMPETITION.


According to Mr. Rod Charlie delos Reyes, Assembly Convener, and the first recipient of the Inga Britt Lindström Award 2020, it was a thrilling experience to become a voice and a platform to champion the LGBTQ community and people across genders. He also said they were able to showcase the works of Filipino occupational health care workers and professionals.


In addition to that, Mr. Armyr Encarnacion, the Festival Director, said that the film competition aims to highlight the works of independent and professional filmmakers focusing on people, their stories and everyday experiences.


Due to the on-going pandemic, the face-to-face screenings was put to a halt but the film entries will be available on Youtube from October 27-31 and there will be a special screening with the cast, directors, happening on October 29 via Zoom which is also organized by JCI Batangas Balisong.


With almost 604 entries around the world, 22 emerged victorious and was chosen for the film competition that will showcase diversity of culture and rejoice the many colors of our lives.
