The Cultural Center of the Philippines continues to open its virtual venues with workshops on various artistic genres on Friday, March 26, 2021 through the Center’s online multi-arts open community festival Tuloy Po Kayo: Palihan. Palabas. Palitanfound on tuloypokayo.com and in various online platforms of the CCP.
Palihan features 30-minute workshops conducted by various artists and artistic groups throughout the day.
Here’s a list of things you can do at the online Palihan:
1. Learn about choral singing from the Philippine Madrigal Singers, (more popularly known as Madz) with Madz artistic director Mark Anthony Carpio at 11am and 12noon.
2. Learn about theater from playwright, actor and director Dennis Marasigan in Theater Elements, live at 12 noon.
3. Join a workshop on Dagit-Dagit with the Samahang Tagapagtaguyod ng Katutubong Sayaw ng Pilipinas and the Philippine Folk Dance Society at 2pm.
4. Visit the visual arts room to watch Young at Art Exclusive Preview with Karl Jingco at 2pm.
5. Listen to PumaPodcast talk about the Power of the Audio Experience on film at 3pm.
Palihan is one of the 3 programs of Tuloy Po Kayo (TPK) featuring various workshops and performances by solo artists and performing art groups from all over the country, exhibitions and virtual museum tours, and arts market, among others.
A re-branding of Pasinaya, Tuloy Po Kayo (TPK) also consists of Palabas and Palitan which takes place on March 19 to 28, 2021. While Palihan features workshops, Palabas beams the spotlight on performances, productions, shows, and other activities from the CCP resident companies, regional groups and other participants. Palitan is all about business-to-business art exchanges with international and local festival organizers, art programmers and creative stakeholders.
Tuloy Po Kayo’s concept comes from the tenet of Philippine psychology that touches on the Filipino’s desire to welcome his fellow man into his home.
TPK gathers as many artists as possible, engaged in as many art forms as there are. Taking the new realities into consideration, TPK focuses on the revitalization of the industry through the presentation of a broad spectrum of artistic activities in all artistic genres.
TPK is CCP’s way of revitalizing the Philippine arts scene, which has been greatly affected by the pandemic. The center aims to provide venues to Filipino artists to share their creations, while introducing and developing audiences in the arts through a series of performances, workshops and exhibits.
